3 Things I Learned While Journaling

I have always been a “journal girl”. During my final semester of undergrad, my mind was all over the place. Immediately upon graduation is when the turmoil began. My post graduation anxiety was in full affect. I had to pass on a dream internship, my car of four years gave up, and to top it off I was not accepted into the school that at the time was my first choice(thank god I wasn't accepted).

I found myself at my grandparents house aimlessly searching for my next sense of security. At this point I’d attended several seminars and conferences and each speaker mentioned journaling as something that was imperative to their success. I have always been a person who carries an agenda, writes and plans out my weekly activities. This time I ditched the weekly plans and decided to plan out my next six months. I am still amazed at how that period of facing the unknown helped me solidify everything my mind could ever think of. I began with the things that were of top priority to me like getting accepted into graduate school, maintaining a stable job that embodies at least one of my passions, and mindfully allotting the time aside for my other passions. These were the three things I chose to focus on solely. I later began to do the same thing for my creative ideas (best decision ever!) I went so far as to write out the steps for each goal and was sure to create timelines for myself, and BOOM! Miraculously each thing that I wrote came forth to reality. I still have the journal and occasionally look back on it for inspiration.

  1. Be specific - One thing to note when in the process of aligning all of your goals and manifesting is to be specific. Think about what you want, focus on it, then visualize how you will achieve it.

  2. Faith it - You have to be certain that goals you are in the process of planning you will achieve. I can't tell you the amount of certainty I felt after writing the things I wanted down. What you write is REAL, it is what you desire.

  3. Intuition - It’s all about what you feel you want to happen not what you think. Your intuition will eventually turn into fruition. The law of attraction encourages that once you feel something and your energy is aligned with that feeling the universe will allow it to happen.

No, a journal will not solve all your problems but it will help actualize the things that you would like to happen. Planning is the savior for execution. You’d be surprised what your mind and a simple journal can produce.
